The Chatham Dockyard Historical Society was founded to perpetuate the history of Chatham Royal Naval Dockyard since its foundation in the 16 Century, to commemorate the ships of the Royal Navy which were built and repaired in the 'Yard, to honour the men and women who constructed almost 500 warships, and those sailors and marines who sailed and serviced these ships for more than four centuries.
